The 6 mm and 13 mm hexes are the special tools. Is it hard to find one in the US ?

i have had the same problem with mine, HUD position is to low.
dealer adjusted it twice to the maximum hight, still to low. (I am 6 ft 4)
salesman (5 ft 8) cannot see a damned thing!
if you put your seat in the lowest possible position, you must be over 6 ft 6 to be able to see it.
at my dealer they have had six customers complaining! (out of 15 fitted cars, I imagine the other 9 have their frontseat in a higher position) I don't think this will be the only complaints from around the world.
problem has been reported to BMW factory, so maybe next year or next generation will see a solution, we will have to learn to live with it.
Well. to me it was already clear from the fact they turned away from the driveroriented dash that they have fired the ergonomics guy (btw the interior pics from the new x5 show they have come to their senses)

It's disappointing to see how limited the adjustment is... A friend of mine just got a Corvette Z06 (to go with his M3) and the HUD in that car is adjustable electrically, just like the outside mirrors. It seems to have quite a range or positioning...
Cheers, Jon.

Ugh, well they are going to raise it as high as it will go for me.. I'll let you know if I can see it at all on Saturday. If not I'll have to turn into the "hunched over, hands of steel, eating the wheel" driver when I want to see it.
I hope they do come out with some fix for us, but doubtful. I'm going to complain directly to BMW as well if it's too low. Of course my salesman didn't say anyone had complaints but the service tech did try to raise one already so there ya go.. In the end if I can't see it I won't be that disappointed, but I did spend a grand for it.. grrr.. BMW - so much technology, so little common sense with this interior.
