Boy it's been a long 9 weeks. But yesterday 6/6/06 my little devil child arrived at the dealer. I should be picking Damien up on Sat as long as the paperwork gets here by Friday. So of course I spent about an hour sitting inside making sure everything worked.. It was heaven.. Pure Bliss...

However, I was not happy to find that the Heads Up Display was positioned really low. In fact I didn't even think it was working until I grabbed the wheel and lifted myself up to see it. Now I'm 5'6 but even a salesmen had some trouble seeing it (he's 6'0) unless the seat was raised all the way up. I could still barely see it with the seat up all the way.. So we went in to talk to the service tech and he was pleasant and explained how it's only millimeters that it's adjustable. So I came home and read all the past threads where others had the same issue. Even a few car reviews made note of this problem. One member did show a before and after pic and it was slightly higher after they adjusted it. I guess anything would help.

My question is: Has anyone had their HUD vertical height adjusted and if so how much higher was it? Could you see it with the seat down low? I'm not sure whether I want them to take apart the display and go diggin in there if they aren't going to be able to make much of a difference.

I stuck in a few pics. Enjoy..

Great looking car. Making me drool.

I saw a 550 at my dealer on Monday with nightvision. Mine is due from the VPC in NJ on maybe the 10th. The aero kit nightvision adaptor in the US is a proble and special parts had to be shipped from Germany. My car will go from NJ VPC to SC VPC and then trucked to my dealer.

Hang in there Veight, I'm glad you decided to wait it out and not take the one they had at the dealer.. You would have regretted it later. And thanks.

I ordered this on Feb 11th. I never considered buying one on the dealers lot. Just passed by the dealer on the way home from work and saw it being offloaded and sure enough it had a cam on it.

I will be at the 4 month waiting point this sunday. But I knew this when i ordered cause i wanted an 07 with an ED of May 8th cause i was busy at work before then. Then my ED was cancelled by BMW NA

That would be nice, but in Mass you have no choice.. Unless you still have an old green plate from the 80's and just transfer it. And I already got a ticket a few years back for taking my front plate off. Luckily I appealed and won by playing dumb.. So many people do it now that the police are out for blood if you don't have it on and the courts don't give breaks anymore. I've grown used to them so it doesn't bother me anymore. And just in case so idiot (self included) bumps me I have a little protection. Not that I ever park near anything anyway but if some day I had to it's a little insurance.

I like my seat down as far as it will go and I am only 5ft10". I adjusted my HUD and it is fine, can see it no problem, when I got the car I could not see anything even with the seat raised quite high, so there is a fair bit of adjustment available.

If you remove the nav display you can see a 13mm bolt that you need to undo and then turn the bolt behind it to move it up and down.
