HAHAHA I'm done too.

Seems kind of childish. But anyway, great explanation Grogan.

I have read many threads where previous 545 owners have said their new 550 feels significantly faster. Given your qtr mile time is essentially the same, you may have a lemon. That really sucks - see if you can return it. :'(

What you say is not obvious to me. Even the car mags, which are not known for getting the most out of cars, are about as fast as you and your car, but in 545i's.

BMW 545i--Steptronic RT 6/05......5.2...13.7...104.0
BMW 545i--Steptronic MT 8/04......5.4...13.7...102.1
BMW 545i--Steptronic MT 11/05.....5.5...13.8...102.8

And, the 550i below appears to be faster than yours. The values for the 550i are taken from a test produced by Auto Zeitung. The related article in on the BMW Germany website. The 550i seems pretty fast. Recall that BMW USA shows 5.4/5.5 for zero to 60 for the car. But, the one tested does zero to 62.14 in 5.5.

550i Steptronic:

0 to:................0 to:...............550i
40...kph.........24.85 mph.........1.6
60...kph.........37.28 mph.........2.8
80...kph.........49.71 mph.........4.1
100 kph.........62.14 mph.........5.5
120 kph.........74.57 mph.........7.5
140 kph.........86.99 mph.........9.6
160 kph.........99.42 mph........12.4
...................104.30 mph........13.6 (I added the time my car took to go from 99.39-104.32 as shown
180 kph........111.85 mph.......15.5 ....below to get 13.6.)

Data for One of My Recent 1/4 Mile Passes at 1600' Given Below (Only Data for 1118.59' to 1320.93' Shown) Note the bottom line below for my car below is 13.57 @ 104.96 to 1320.93'. My adusted for weather and altitude to 500' time and speed for this pass are 13.529 @ 105.283. This pass barely makes my top 15 list. The averages for my best 5 are 13.470 @ 105.240.

When you get your times down to 13.3 or 13.4 let us know.Maybe you can show us 545ers what a 550 can do.So far no one with a 550 has posted times that are as good as some of the 545,s on this forum.I have no doubt that a well broken in 550 with an experienced and competent driver will eventually get faster times than a 545.It just hasn't happened yet.I would not expect the margin to be very large, maybe a car length or 2.Close enough that an experienced drag strip driver in a 545 could easily overcome if the 550 driver is inexperienced.

Uh, all the misspellings, the bad grammar, the misinformation (tiptronic??), the physically impossible assertions (130mph at 1/4mi + 200ft, yea right) -- that's what confuses us. Now, we're done.

Me, too. No but really, to go from 104 mph to 130 in less than 300 ft is impossible in a 360 hp 550i. Thanks for the estimation, Grogan545. Maybe a video can prove us wrong?
