First time I've posted pictures of my 550. Love the car. Don't love my camera. It's just a basic Canon Powershot SD790 point and shoot. I'm a bit underwhelmed with the quality when trying to use as desktop wallpaper. The file size/resolution should be plenty for quality at wallpaper size. Lighting isn't the greatest in some of these pics, but why can't I get great pictures out of this camera? Is it not possible to get that kind of quality out of a point and shoot?

The pics are great and the car looks awesome!

About the camera.... With a compact point and shoot camera you can definitely take great pics, but it requires good lighting. But the possibility to make fine tuning on setup is usually very limited. The camera will increase the sensitivity (ISO) automatically when there's less light and the shutter will stay open longer. This leads to a jolted picture if the camera isn't hold still well. Also increasing the ISO setting will create noise in to picture. A high quality DSLR camera will tolerate the high ISO settings better.

But I think your pics are great!

Most "Wallpaper" quality pictures are photoshopped. Just photoshop your pictures to bring out the details a little more.

I think the pictures look great! Nice car. Yes, you can get better quality pictures using better DSLR cameras?they are more flexible in terms of what you can adjust when taking pictures and they have better and bigger sensors and lenses (allowing more lights captured). Try maximizing what your SD790 can do: try using lower ISO (maybe ISO 100) to reduce noise. Some camera uses noise reduction for high ISO pictures, and this results in softer pictures as it "blurs" the noise to get rid of it. Use lower JPEG compression (higher quality level, maybe Super Fine). Higher JPEG compression=smaller file size=less quality. Use the highest resolution the SD790 has. And zoom in when you take pictures to avoid the car being distorted. Many people take pictures of their car too close and zoom out (wide angle) making the car looks funny. As Speed_Force_E60 says, you can also further enhance your pictures in Photoshop.

Looks great!

Did that trunk spoiler also come with the car or is that an extra you put on?
