I am noticing at times that in drive my 530 seems to hesitate from stop. I hit the gas and it does nothing then tends to go, is this normal? I doesn't seem to be all the time or consistent. I also never notice it when in DS mode.

7,100 miles of driving pleasure with its first trip to the shop in the morning. The brakes squeek but other than that no problems so far.

Thanks in advance.

I am a bit surprised if you always drive in D mode you had not noticed this. D-mode starts you out in 2nd gear for one. Second it shifts you at a lower RPM so stepping on the gas will feel super sluggish. It is supposed to be "smooth" which it is technically but gets on my nerves. The only time mine is on D is when I am driving my mum around.

Second our cars (530 258hp as well) is a sluggish off the line and low end torque on this thing just blows. I really think the worst part of this car is the VERY much lacking low end torque. Even slamming the pedal off the line-and I have some mods that should have helped this so I remember it was even worse stock-but the car barely moves. However after you hit the middle of 2nd gear the power is pretty good. At 80 mph plus is where this engine shines. Problem is there are fewer chances to show off the 100mph glory than the 10-40mph range. I seriously have been out gunned off the line but pretty much anything you can name!

He's correct. It's just how this car is. It's slow and sluggish at less than 60mph speeds but really cruises well above 80. It's like a friend of mine said - Hondas are made to drive around town and slowly, while BMWs are made to drive at fast 80+ mph highway speeds.

Just get a radar detector and drive fast.

Actually, some have blamed the new DSC bits that came in Sept 05 production for this behavior. The pre-Sept 05 cars don't hesitate. I have a 2006 530i N52 engine from March 05 production with the old DSC system components and it always has hair-trigger response.

I have an 07 and correct me if I am wrong but if you disable your DSC than your hesitation goes away? If that is what you or the OP is talking about then that is different. What I meant is when you gun the car-it does not "take off" rather, well it feels sluggish! But it is not hesitating persay so maybe that is a different issue.
