So what do you suggest i should switch the fog lamps to? How big is this risk you're talking about?

If you look at the pics above, my BMW emblems are black and white instead of Blue and white. It's somekind of a sticker that goes on top of the blue portion of the emblem. Not sure how long the stickers will last, but so far they have gone through 2 car wash and still look fine, no peeling, no color change.

There's no risk for the car or the wires to burn but the light "window", see thru plastic (glass) in front of the lamp can melt do the more intense heat the stronger lightbulb creates.

My friend put some 100 W lamps into his E39 and the plastic started to melt.

OK, I see now what you mean with the emblem. As a personal point of view, I would go for the standard blue and white because BMW is a fine brand.
