I'm trying to get an idea for MPG for a pre-LCI 535d (probably a 05 or 55 plate). I know the official figures but wanted to get an idea of real world figures. Here are the scenarios for the MPG:

1. Around town, very slow speeds, lots of stop/starts but driving it very economically.
2. Same as 1 but driving it quite hard.
3. Mix of around town and motorway driving economically.
4. Same as 3 but driving it quite hard.
5. Cruising 70mph constant speed on motorway
6. Motorway, with changing speeds, driving hard and overtaking fast but generally not exceeding 70mph (approx)

I've done some searching on these forums and here are approximate figures that I've got (and estimates for figures that I don't have). Can anyone confirm or correct any of the figures.

1. 20 to 25 mpg
2. 15 to 20 mpg
3. 30 to 35 mpg
4. 25 to 30 mpg
5. 40 to 45 mpg
6. 30 to 35 mpg

The main reason for getting this information is to get the most realistic expectation if I do end up getting a 535d.

Thanks in advance.

5.I get 38-39 tops . If you buy a car with no additional spec , remapped for economy ,16" wheels and really narrow hyperinflated tyres , then 45 may be possible .

The rest appear roughly right.

Just purchased an 05 535d M Sport this weekend. Will see how the economy turns out, but I think the expectation that one has to have is that you get huge performance with better than average economy than a lesser petrol car. If you want 40 mpg, then a 520d or 525d is better, but a completely different car.

Yeah that's about right, quite exact figures.

Yes, a good summary. That's about what I manage - except not sure about the 40-45mpg figure at 70mph - must try that.

Around town with stop start driving about 20-22mpg. Motorway driving about 35-38 at 120-130kph ( ireland!)
I changed my wheels lately, 175/30/19 back, 245/35/18 front and noticed about 2mph drop when on motorway
My car is well run in 86K km and is not chipped.
