Hi Guys! Had a quick question-

I currently have a 2006 M5 with the following: Single In-Dash CD player; Single In-Dash DVD player and a 6-CD Changer in the Glove Compartment.

I wanted to know what my options are as far as ability to play MP3 CDs. I have burnt MP3 data-discs (not burnt in CD format which older CD players can play, but MP3 files on the disc - its an option given on our computer softwares at the time of burning). I tried it in the Changer with no luck; tried in the in-dash CD player with no luck and unfortunately no luck in the DVD player either. Am I doing something wrong, or missing out on something small? It said that the drive could not recognize the software; or something like that. I had burnt these on a CD and not DVD, but DVD players are usually able to read CDs.

What do you think the problem could be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Kris

Do a search in the FAQ section - I'm pretty sure there is a detailed write up on how to correctly burn MP3 disks. I've used several different programs and had success with all of them.

If I remember correctly, only the in-dash drives have this capability - the CD changer does not. You can also burn an MP3 DVD and play music from the NAV drive slot, but then you will obviously lose any NAV function while its there.

You might need a software update to be able to play the MP3 format.

+1 you probably need to have your MP3 funtionality activated by the dealer. Try doing a search as there was an SIB out there, that deals specifically with this programming update. I had to have mine done as well, and its all free as long as you are under warranty still.
