MP3 Software Installation Check
Hi
I recently had some service work done on my 2004 E60 and asked for the MP3 software to be added at the same time. Ive since tried to get to get MP3 CDs to work in the front CD drive (and followed some good instructions on this forum for burning cds etc) but i just get an error message about supported format. Ive since bought a Dension Gateway 500 and tried to connect this up but it doesnt seem to work.
I was wondering if there is anyway to check the onboard computer to see if the MP3 software is installed? The dealer which installed it have messed me about a fair bit so it would be nice to know if it is installed or not before i take it in! Could another dealer check this without charging?
Cheers for any help
Chris

I realize you followed the directions on how to burn a disc properly but there are so many variables that you really need to verify/prove that you're working with a good disc before proceeding any further...

I'd suggest taking the disc you burned and see if it plays on a new vehicle in the showroom. If it does, then you know the disc is good and something isn't right with your car.

I have had the same exact problem in my '05 545. I just had the software updated and the dealer told me specifically that they enabled the car to play MP3's but all I get is the same message about no readable information on disk. I played the same CD in MP3 players in friends car and it worked just fine. Any further info out there?
