Hi all,
Got the car back today. Mp3 works fine on my 11/2003 car
That's excellent news. Hopefully that means my 11/2004 build car will work as well.
just got my 03/05 build car back (with CCC) ... has CIP 20.01 ... how do you guys burn your MP3 discs? The same disc that worked in an 07/05 without nav will not work in my car ...
[/quote]

my 2005 530 with a build date of 12/01/04 cannot play mp3s as well. I have nav also...

OK, I am going to embarrass myself here but what does MP3 playback mean?

Does this mean you can download MP3 files and then burn them to a CD without converting them to whatever the 3 letter code that represents CD music? (something like Windows "WAV" files right?)

Yes, I'm an idiot with electronics but make up for it in financial planning.

It means you can rip your CDs to your PC hard drive as MP3 (compressed) files, or download MP3 files from the web--and then you burn a CD with the MP3 files (not uncompressing them). You'll be able to get around 8 - 10 CDs worth of music on the CD since the MP3 files are compressed.

Built Jan 2004, Pro Navigation, Took in for 20.02 CIP Update and MP3 Retrofit programming. They said it does not work! When tested, said iDrive shows MP3 grayed out, but it won't play MP3s. They also took a MP3 CD out of a car that does play MP3s and put it in mine and it still doesn't work.

I know the MP3 service bulletin says the retrofit only works for March 2005 - Sept 2005 cars, but several people have reported MP3 working with build dates before that.

Any MP3 success stories on pre March 2004 builds or is the cutoff March 2004 because of newer versions of the CCC computer?

I've got a U.S. spec. early March 04 build with NAV and today my SA told me he could do the MP3 retrofit with my 24month service visit.
