Still confused because of conflicting information. I have ordered 530xd January delivery. My dealer told me that BMW Finland has informed the dealers that Basic radio here in Europe (radio business) will play MP3. Seems to be wrong info. Could anybody confirm Iceman.
It's allways been like this:
radio bus = no MP3 decoder
radio pro = MP3 decoder
nav bus = radio pro
nav pro = radio pro

Call BMW Germany.

Maybe, but that I don't know, the standard radio in Finland is the radio pro...!??? This is the case in the USA now... So maybe in Finland too? Then the info from BMW Finland would be correct, since the standard radio can play MP3...
Iceman,

I got 535d June 2005 production with Nav Pro and following your statement above I should have the MP3 decoder. Well, I don't!

I wish somebody (BMW?) came with clear and solid answer to the issue.

Any comments?

Pre-October 2005 cars with pro-nav are still waiting for MP3 software. They have the capability to do it because they have the pro-radio part, but havent got the software yet

Today, I went to my dealer to schedule for my first service, Oil & Filter must be replaced in 1000 Kms. I hadn't time to ask for news about s/w updates!!! The guy, who is aware of my interest in the solution for that MP3 problem, started to say that MP3 only with version 20.0 and that will be only available from mid December. He came recently from a BMW training action and I'm positive a solution should come up to finally resolve that problem affecting so many of us.
Let's wait a little more...

Yes you do have the decoder! But to get MP3 playback you need the proper software, and this software isn't released yet! Once it's released you can get the update and listen to MP3 files.

Anybody knows??
No MP3 on the changer. Not yet, not in the future.

I have a 6-2005 e60 with pro-nav (no changer) and just got an appointment with the dealer to upgrade software to play mp3's. A bit worried with regard to the "un-documented features (bugs)" I will get, but hey life's a gamble
