Thanks Lomag, You have done agreat job. I have one problem however, I want to produce a play list in i tunes and burn this to a MP3 disc. However my music files are stored in mpeg 4 format. Can you suggest any free software that will convert mpeg 4 to MP3. I have downloaded some software from the internet but most software seems to require registration and payment before you get full functionality. (you generally have to convert one file at a time and then reset the software after various pop ups which takes ages)
Thanks Nige
Thanks Nige

Thanks, the settings worked perfectly on "Sonic" burn software which came with my Dell. It makes such a difference to see the file names as well as the detail.

Nice one Lomag
I don't think I'd have picked up on the correct ISO format. Cool.
May be worth adding some info on getting tracks to appear in the order that you want.
I noticed a thread or two on that subject a while back.
Just seen it here:

Works a treat in itunes. One thing though. Anyone know why some song names are in capital letters and others are in lower case.

Great, but Nero is dead for me (not working with lightscribe), and I did not find the option on Roxio.
So I tried droppix, tried to select what you mentionned, but the disc was not even recognized as MP3 and not read...
Here are my settings on Droppix.
Any hint why it did not work ? I can usually read mp3, but with horrible names, I have exactly what you showed in the pictures.
Cheers.

For those of you that struggle with the file names in the new CIP 20 MP3 interface, here is some help:
By default if you burn a CD in say Nero, the setting is ISO Level 1 with 8.3 filenames. This will make your folders and files look like something like this : (Example artist Alex Lloyd) "ALEXLLOY".
If you change the settings to Iso Level 2 you suddenly have long file and folder names up to 31 characters. If you however dont change anything else, the character set will default to ISO9660. This will make the artist appear in your Idrive screen as "ALEX_LLOYD" (all caps, no spaces, annoying!)
Finally, you should change Character set from ISO9660 to ASCII. This will solve the problem and the artist will show as "Alex Lloyd".
Please see the image for a screenshot from the nero burning version 6 rom screen.

hope this helps

Sorry, those converter programs are all over the place and none are shareware, or they'll give you a demo that converts 25% of the song or something similar.
I found and installed this free convertor:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xtracto..._mirror=surfnet
It seems to work really well - just adjust the MP3 settings to the highest quality.
