Why o why did BMW feel the need to make the alarm go off if you try to open the trunk remotely and hold the button for over 3 seconds. WHYYYYYY! Is there a fix for this? Can i disable this DAMN feature! Its been over a year since i've had the car, and i still worry when doing it remotely "Will the alarm go off". This feature makes me FURIOUS!

Post away all the annoying things that you guys dislike in the E60. Let BMW hear it!

I got mine under control quickly. Don't try to hold down until the trunk clicks. Hold for a second or so and release. When I do so, my trunk clicks and opens. I would change some things, but I don't have any out and out annoyances. You might want to check this thread out--What 5 series changes would you like?

The button hold down is the emergency feature to purposely set off the alarm in the event of an assault. Also handy when you have lost the car...hold down one second and release to just open the trunk...this is all in the manual.

Same here. I found the trick..but always feel the same. One way that works for me better is to unlock the doors then open my trunk. Dont ask my why..but it works for me.
But I still worry every time. (cc)

Amigo,

Same results.... with the doors locked, I was setting off the alarm quite often. No problem since I started opening the driver's door FIRST. Terrible engineering on BMW's part!

If this can be considered a "feature" ... I hate the flimsy flip-out cupholders.
