I finally got the spec from the dealer for the LCI in Ireland (along with some prices).
Looks to be mostly the same as the UK.

Introduction of the new 5 Series Saloon & Touring - week 10 production.

Full Pricing details have been confirmed below as well as a price comparison.

We are pleased to announce the introduction of the new 5 Series Saloon and Touring from week 10 2007 production. Since the launch of the E60/E61 5 Series, in September 2003, the model has gone from strength to strength winning many industry awards and continues to dominate the Executive sector.

The changes have been introduced to ensure the continued success of the 5 Series' lifecycle and to offer an unparalleled product offering in a very competitive market place.

The new 5 Series' changes are summarised below:
Engine changes:
- 523i - N53 Direct Injection engine +13hp
- 525i - N53 Direct Injection engine
- 530i - N53 Direct Injection engine +14hp
- 525d - 2993cc engine +20hp
- 530d - 2993cc engine +4hp
- 535d - 2993cc engine with +14hp
Gearbox changes:
- 205 Automatic gearbox - now electronically controlled gearshifts and new gear selector (electrically operated) resulting in better fuel consumption and emission figures. Various models now have better fuel consumption and CO2 emission ratings in combination with the automatic gearbox.
Please note: 520d retains the conventional automatic gearbox, as in the current car.
- 2TB Sports Automatic gearbox (available from June production) - more spontaneous shift patterns (in Sport mode = 1 sec faster than conventional automatic gearbox) and includes steering wheel paddles and a more sporty gear selector lever.
Please note: Only available for 530i/530d/535d/550i models.
Subtle exterior changes:
- new front bumper
- new front light clusters (internal design changes)
- new front fog lamps
- new side rocker panel (side sill)
- new rear bumper
- new rear light clusters with LED technology (including rear positioning lights at side)
- rear boot number plate surround panel (similar to M5)
- new paint options
- new alloy wheels
Please note: M5 and M Sport models retain their current exterior design with the exception of the new front and rear light units (M5 / M Sport models) and rear number plate surround panel (M Sport models).
Major interior changes:
- new door panels (including interior trim inserts)
- new centre console design with storage
- new steering wheel (centre insert design change)
- new controller (without operational feedback)
- centre console covered in leather whenever leather is specified (standard for 550i)
- all switches now have 'soft' edges (bevelled rather than sharp)
- new standard interior trim (plastic high gloss all models - wood for 550i SE / M Sport)
- 534 Air conditioning, with extended features standard for all models except 520d
- 473 Armrest - front with sliding adjustment standard for all models except 520d
- 423 Floor mats standard for all models
- 470 Child seat ISOFIX attachment, front standard for all models (with front airbag deactivation)
New Paintwork options:
- A52 Space Grey, metallic
- A68 Platinum Grey, metallic
- A76 Deep Sea Blue, metallic
- A53 Platinum Bronze, metallic (released from June 2007 production)
Deleted Paintwork options:
- 349 Olivin, metallic
- A07 Mystic Blue, metallic
- A08 Silver Grey, metallic
- A09 Amethyst Grey, metallic
- A36 Titanium Grey, metallic
New Upholstery options:
- GGAT Flashlight Anthracite Cloth / Nappa (standard for all M Sport models)

- 5DF Active Cruise Control with 'Stop&Go' function (brakes vehicle to 0 km/h and resumes programmed speed without driver having to touch controls (3 sec stop parameter applies).
- 6FL USB socket in centre console (plays music downloaded onto a Memory stick and allows iPod connection)
- 752 BMW Individual HiFi system (16 speakers / 825w with Surround Sound)
Technical enhancements:
- 609 Navigation now has FULL word entry for destination input when combined with 620 Voice control
- 609 Navigation system now has new 'search' function within the 'Information' facility
- 606 Business navigation now comes with a '2D' map display (no split-screen function)
- new iDrive graphics
- 8 'Favourite' buttons (standard for all models) allows you to programme your favourite telephone numbers, radio stations, navigation destinations. Activation of a stored navigation destination, for example, is at the touch-of-a-button
- Cruise Control (all models except 520d) now comes with 'Brake Function' - keeps programmed speed even when on a steep incline by braking engine and vehicle braking system
- 534 Air Conditioning with extended features (standard for all models except 520d) - new programme function with one-touch activation of air vents and iDrive display
- All 5 Series models now come with 'Daytime' driving lights (function can be switched off through iDrive)
- All 5 Series models now come with 'Welcome lights' - switches front and rear lights on when locking / unlocking vehicle at night (can be switched off through iDrive)
- Whenever 522 Xenon lights and 524 Adaptive headlights are specified 'Cornering lights' are included - operates at speeds up to 40 km/h
- Gear shift indicator within instrument cluster with manual gearbox models (indication of optimum gear change point)
- All 5 Series models now have Brake Regeneration as a standard technical enhancement (see future Product News bulletin for detailed information)

The Sports Automatic Transmission (2T will cost ?140 over automatic transmission

Good info I wonder how many of these features will be retrofit packages for the pre-LCI cars. I'm sure there people waiting to lay their hands on the LED lights.
Also I'll wait to see how many of these features are software driven via a CIP upgrade.

Can I get the USB interface retro fitted into my 06 E60?
Also Why can't my stereo play MP3 CD's, standard stereo pack?

There is no word yet on whether the USB port can be retrofitted...
It would almost certainly require some additional hardware and software (beyond the connector itself).
If you just want to use an iPod then the MOST kit is a better option anyway as the iPod is in the glovebox instead dangling across the floor at the rear.

Bluetooth is now cheaper ?940 vs ?1,085.
Sports seats now have to be ordered with Electric Seats or Luxury Pack.
USB does not need Professional Radio to play MP3s (according to BMW Ireland...)
Auto gearbox is slightly more expensive ?3,030 vs ?2,955

I thought Auto transmission is a no cost option on 2008 5 Series ?

Not in Europe... we have to pay for everything here.
