I'm at a UK dealer launch event on Saturday prior to picking my LCI 5 series up in April. Hopefully the demonstrators will have the USB option installed, if so I'll check the location of the ports (and what remains at the back of the centre console) and update the thread accordingly.

Finally, I saw the LCI in IRL - and I have to say that although being subtle the changes really enhances the overall feeling of the car!

This is where you'll find the socket:

If you do NOT order with 6FL USB-socket, the AUX is still at it's old place behind the seats.

If you order with the USB socket, it will be found in the armrest, together with the AUX - which as been moved. So, no AUX between the seats with this combo.

In which case our expert receives the appropriate accolade coupled with apologies for doubting him.

What the heck are rear-seat passengers gonna do with their two power outlets?

I was kinda curious as to how this would turn out, having a 6FL on order. Classy acknowledgement, commensurate with this forum.

Do you know if the ipod adapter will be supplied with the car in Sweden, or if we will have to order it separately?

I went today to the dealer and took a few pictures of the new 5 series. The USB interface is located in the middle tunnel console. According to the dealer in the UK, the cable for IPOD is not included and is on accessory list, the price isn't known yet but is going to be around ?30. Apparently, one customer already tested the new USB interface and he connected the IPOD just via USB and all the songs are playing fine.
Picture of new USB interface below.

Why do you need a ipod cable for the usb? Can't you just use the one that comes with the ipod?

According to one dealer you can use USB cable the one that comes with IPOD but BMW have thier own IPOD cable which is connected to USB and AUX IN.
