I meant the steering wheel mounted paddle shifter for the SMG model on this picture.

Here's another image, clearly showing the cupholders.

Makes me think that the non-cupholder image is not a production shot.
This shot also shows a different shifter than in the one I posted earlier today.

could it be the "sports automatic" compared to the previous images of standard automatic like in the X5?

This one has the thumb shifters, and is the optional Sport Automatic.

The door grabs on the current 5 was one of the things that caught my attention. Not the best in ergonomic design but surely functional, to say the least. It was unique, quirky almost...... but I liked it....correction, still like it......
The new gear shift might be better in terms of features but what an eyesore.... a landscape of traditional wood and leather..... and then this phallic-like space age dil*o sticks out....but they may change the color or add leather when it does come to production.... or maybe they won't......
Overall, I believe that the best part of this facelift are the front lower bumper (nothing the M Aero or AC or any body kit couldn't solve) and the rear LED lights......
The middle of the console seems a little strange as the current one uses that space for its GPS console..... maybe they put it somewhere else.....
Besides the necessary aesthetic changes, I don't think the changes are very significant (bar the engine).

This discussion is really neat because we are not all buying the sell of this "upgrade". That sexy face on the other side of the room is not necessarily better than the sexy face we came to the party with.
