Thumbs up

Is that what it's called? Lol I like it, makes the shifter look cool and the door handles at night w that classic BMW red glow! Then I got to wondering do the lci's have the lighting? The drivers door is almost identical to the 3 series now did they move the light to a clever new location? Or did they cheep out and ditch it?

My LCI has that lighting. I just looked in the manual and didn't see any specific mention of it. On page 110, they talk about "interior lamps, footwell lamps, door entry lighting, courtesy lamps, cargo bay lamps". I don't think any of these are the lights you are talking about. For some reason the term "comfort lighting" is in my head...seems I've someone say that before.

Are you talking about the amber colored lighting? I believe it's called Ambient Lighting and they are typically included with the Premium Package.

Mood lighting is the term used on the Mini because it actually can change colours. On our cars is simply called interior lighting and in the EU its an option that you can take, or retrofit like I've done

I don't think is exactly correct......this lighting is part of all E60s. In fact, I think it's part of all the newer BMWs. I know my buddy's '02 540 had it, but my '95 E34 did not. The lights he's talking about...correct me if I'm wrong...are the very small lights that shine through "pinholes" (~1/8" diameter opening) in the lighting console located (2 of them) by the rearview mirror and also located (2 of them) in the lighting console in the center of the roof. I very well may be called "ambient lighting"...that's really what it is.

Actually, Bruce, it's called (at least on my new MINI) "ambience" lighting. Yes, I can change it from puple to blue to orange and might even get some green.

It's only moody if you prowl around in the dark.

Is this feature on all 5's? I think I've noticed a modest orange glow from the footwells, and onto the shifter.

My Acura MDX had it too, but it was a blue light.. A noticeable blue.

Definitely could be wrong but i was just basing my comments on what i saw on one of the price sheets that came up from a search (Check out item 563):

Mood lighting..?-ambient_lighting.jpg

Do love the interior lighting, whatever it's called. The PreLCI doesn't seem as bright and I don't recall if they added more light points on the LCI's, but in 7 series, the amber lighting is a lot more pronounced - like you're in a movie theater

Cal: I definitely prefer your lighting
