Hello all,
I will be driving to Times Square NY city from Montreal on this Friday. I expect getting there between 3 and 4pm. For the new-yorker members here, any advice on which access I should take? Lincoln tunnel, Georges-Washington bridge, etc...
Thanks!
Ben

I think both of those are gonna be packed with traffic.......I would prolly go 87 to 80 then 95 to the Lincoln tunnel. Id try to stay on the larger NJ highways then to be pushing and shoving through the NY 2 lane highways up near the GWB and into Manhattan.

Well good luck with that, that's getting into rush hour on a FRIDAY, going into the heart of the city? it's a crap shoot anyway you put it. The Lincoln will put you closest to 42nd street. The Holland should be your backup. The GWB will cause lot's of driving in the city, which one always wants to avoid on a late Friday afternoon.

I will be doing the opposite this weekend... from Ct to Montreal Friday morning for the Tour de l'Île de Montréal50k bike ride and coming back Monday. If you come in GWB you can take the West Side Hwy which isnt bad into the city on a Friday (terrible coming out)... the tunnel will take you almost right to 42nd St....

Thanks guys for your input. I understand the timing is not right, but I have no choice. Google map gives me another option with approximately the same mileage via I-91, then 84, 684 and finally 9A. Would this be a better option?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would say yes! Any avoidance of I95/GWB/tunnels is a plus. I am going I84 to I87 (I think) north...9A is the West Side Hwy and like I said earlier, its nothing getting into the city on 9A - I drive it all the time right around the time you will be going in for Rangers games and there is never any real traffic unless there is an accident.
