My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05

Picked up car today from service. while waiting I arranged for drive in 750 at a later date (all 750s dealer can lay hands on are spoken for). I asked about the 4.8L engine, if it was coming in the 5/6 and would they change designation. He pulled out his trusty 3-ring binder, opened to CY2005 model changes dealer bulletin and we both read from it. The two paragraphs I was intersted in were on the 5/6 V8.

Starting with September production MY2006 current model 545i 4.4L engine will be replaced with the new 4.8L engine and the model designation will be 550i.

Same exact words were used for current model 645Ci ......... 650Ci.

His guess was that he would be receiving the chassis/option details sometime in July and be able to take and submit orders for the production runs starting in September.

That was as far as my interest went so I did not review the other 10 or so paragraphs having to do other topics on CY2005 changes.

Having driven the 4.8 750i, I can confirm it feels way better than the 745i...a really big step up in creamy smooth power delivery!

Not sure. Number 2 on M6 list, but geeze what a monster for what I can do around Florida. Need to move to Nevada, West Texas, New Mexico or Arizona to use / abuse it properly So maybe the 650 is more my style. At least it ought to be easier to get a hold of. I?ll just wait and see. I can be patient, comforted by my 6er which is just incredible.
