Hi all,

Just got home from my dealer. Had the M-aero kit installed - OMG!, It's awsome. Promise to post pictures during daylight. There were two M-aero kits installed, mine (Tisilver 545i) and a dark blue (Orient blue?, 550i). Everyone at the dealership loves the kit and particularly likes it on the TiSilver because the front with black mesh contrasts nicely with the silver. So, I asked why they were adding on M kit for the 550i when I thought that was VPC's job. My SA said the VPC are new to the kits and they have mangled two jobs already in which the tech at the dealership had to do over and fix (WTF?). It's a little disconcerting when you can overpay by going VPC route and they sometimes screw-up the job

I also had my 18" Mille Miglia 5 spoke and Dunlop Wintersports install- they look good. Dry pavement performance seemed quite good although of course it was not as good as stock. I'll post how they do in snow when it arrives.

Here some other tidbits I've learned. My dealership has delivered two M5's already. Another is coming in next week so I'm going to visit to see my first one in the flesh. Of course all of them are SMG. My SA said he has a pretty decent wait list for manual transmission but he has no date of when (or even if) they will offer it. He said if I wanted an M5 he can get me one (SMG) in February (no wait) and at MSRP. He's said there a lot of price gouging in the West Coast but they are offering MSRP.

He also said he saw his first introduction to the M roadster at an BMW insider track event. He said it looked awsome and the team was quite excited about the return of the M roadster

<_< Wonder if you saw my 550. It's Monaco Blue. If it was, my aero kit was VPC installed, but they had to remove it at the dealer to install my Escort SR-7 radar/laser detector. IDK.

I'm picking my 550 up tomorrow, 11/30. I'm just hoping I love it nearly as much as I've loved driving my 540i.

BTW, when talking of a 6-speed M, I'm assuming you're talking about Feb 07?

Post Pics when you get a chance. I'll do likewise, probably once the snow melts.

This is too funny, e60.net truly is the center of the e60 universe . The monoco blue is a beautiful color. I thought it would be like the old blue but is is noticible different- seems to have a slight deep purplish hue to it If that's your car, is looks very sweet. I got a good look at it as it was the first 550 and first aero-kit I've ever seen in the flesh. I did not hear the details on the VPC piece but I happy to hear that it was more complicated than VPC just screwing-up.

Re: the M5, my SA said he could not give any dates on the availability of the MT. The Feb delivery date was in reference to an SMG M5. Good luck with your new ride - love to hear details on that new 550 engine.

BTW - be sure to get your e60.net clings, I proudly showed off my clings at the dealership.

Both of you need to post pictures ASAP! My dealer sold the his first two M5's also but has a Seprang/Black coming in December (unsold at this point). I'm not a fan of the color but he too has the ability to order and deliver in the current 3 month window. I'm just not sure about the SMG. Also, ED gets you 7% off (~$6300) which one could safely spend flying themselves and their significant other to Munich for a week of pounding the pavement.

Go blue.

LOL, picked up my 550 today and inquired about any recent M aero kit installs. The service adviser said that you picked yours up a day or two ago. Small world.

My first impresion of my E60 ishow different it is from my E39 540. My 540 drove more like a sports car, while the 550 definately drives like a luxury sedan. Not that is bad, just very different.

Like you MIhuskey, I am very glad I sprung for the M Aero kit. It looks alot more aggresive. I can hardly wait until it's broken in.

Keep ya posted.
