Missing tire valve cap?

Has anyone else had a problem with "losing" tire valve caps?

I have had my 2008 550 almost 5 months and for the second time, the tire valve cap on the front right tire is missing. After the first time, I just thought that some kid liked the different type of cap and just took it. Now, I am missing the one from the same tire. It seems that if someone was taking it, they would take more than just one.

Is it possible that the unique design of these caps (plastic with the wider diameter top) has a tendency to unscrew itself and fall off?

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

I bought a few extras and keep them in the center console for just such a thing. My car was actually delivered with one missing so before I left the lot, another dealer car has 2 suddenly disappear

I lost one early on and checked the other three and they were somewhat loose. I got a new one from by dealer and made sure they were all nice and snug and haven't had a problem since...

Do you have a part number? My dealer always asks for this.

Thanks!

I usually find mines missing when i come back

to the parking lot for some odd reason people

usually just take one or 2.

They must be seeing me coming back to my car

and probably only have the chance to take one.

But if i catch them

I have the tiny metal valve caps that come with the car. It's always tight, I'm surpris people have problems with the cap.

Kids steal the tire valve caps all the time for scavenger hunts, pranks, kicks.
