Greetings all, thank you all in advance your assistance and understanding. Vehicle is '07 bmw 530xi.
Allow me to preface this with the actual problem, then explain the circumstances of said problem.
Both of my mirrors have become stupid following a dealership visit. I do not have folding mirrors, this is only for adjustment, but my driver's side mirror, if I have my switch on the passenger side will move itself as far inside as it can, and then down. My passenger side will move just to the point where it's not useful. Key note, my adjustment button doesn't work.
So after pushing the mirrors where I need them, if I go into reverse, the passenger side mirror will go down. Go into drive, it will come back up, then go in to where it's useless again.
I have come across the phantom mirror thread, but I'm not sure if it applies in this specific instance. The vehicle just came back from being in the dealership for a month. It was intended to be a simple battery replacement, but bloated out into an alternator replacement, steering lock replacement (because they couldn't start the car) and passenger seat mat replacement (under that specific extended warranty.
They had tried other means of bypassing the steering lock, and the steering mat they tried to manually code in a couple times with a bmw specialist.
This was a long saga and when I got to the dealership to pick up the car, there was about a book of things to go through from the technician. My question is if my mirrors are possibly a coding issue from the dealership, or something hope simpler.
Side note, my alternator decided to give up on the way to the dealership, and everything slowly ran out of power, and glitched out before I shut off the car and waited on AAA.
If you read through all of this, thank you again. I simply am trying to provide all the facts before I call my dealership, or start prying off my mirrors.

Sooo, I did attempt the phantom mirror fix and found that I can control my driver's side mirror, but only up, down, and in. And that's the only mirror I can control no matter which mirror I have selected, I am controlling the driver's mirror. This is leaning more to the dealer messing something up, methinks.
