Unhappy

Hi everyone;

I`m new in E60.net

I drive 2005 e60 530ia and 2005 e60 520ia.
I have some noise problem with both.
The noise comes from inside the dashboard and it is like a metallic vibration sounds trrrrrinnnn trrrrrriiinnnn
when going on bumps and little bumpy roads.
I guess i comes from the dash but it may come from the engine part or the hood vibrating?
It happens on both cars.It is a bit loudy with 530.
Can anyone determine the source of that noise. When i go to the dealer we have a test drive but we could not
hear the noice. But after that i hear it when i drive alone and it is a loudy vibration noise 'could be heard when the music
is on.

I wait your comments...

Thanks
atilla

I thought I was the only one with this problem. When my sunroof is open with the glass closed I also get a metallic vibration noise there too. Not sure what it is... If you have any knowledge on this subject please post.

I'm having something similar as well. Goes away when the sunroof headliner (not the glass) is open. Haven't been able to track it down yet.

atlvlk: Can you tell where it's coming from? Roof, behind the dash, window, etc. Knowing that will help narrow the possibilities.

I have (had) the exact same problem with mine. If I have the sunroof-liner open, glass closed I hear the glass on metal vibration noise. What I found out is that there's a metal strip that goes from left-to-right just where the glass goes in when it closes. When this metal strip is up when the glass is closed, it rattles. Put your finger up there and play with the metal strip, you can actually push it down away from the glass.

For now, I've placed a strip across the top of the metal strip to keep the glass from hitting the metal strip. I'll try to take pics tonight and post it.

It comes from behind the dash or engine compartment.I did not check the glass sunroof but i dont think it comes from sunroof or back of the vehicle?

There was an SIB recently regarding loose strut braces. The SIB number is 51 13 04. I'm not sure if your car is affected by it, but it could be. Check out the enclosed PDF.

Mine too, thought it was my keyfob, but tracked it to behind the dash / in driver door. It too drives me crazy. Was going to have a look but taking the dash out is not going to be a quick job!

I also have the rear parcel shelf creeks...
