My car, which we ordered and revieved a week ago. I just noticed that under the hood and trunk. there is no paint. Its just a grey primer looking color? Is this the way BMW's come? or did they forget. Under my Porsche, and Nissan are both painted under the hoods????

I have to say, with the hood open, my car looks like a sixties model chevy......cept for the work of art that is the engine

Another advantage of silver, It looks like it's painted but without the gloss coat.

This is my 6th BMW in a row and I have never noticed this - I'll have a look - I'm sure I would have noticed a lack of paint on the boot (as we call it around here)

Just think of all the weight you save without the added paint!

I'm guessing it's good for at least 0.2-0.3 seconds in the quarter mile.

I've never noticed it in the trunk (It's a trunk because a boot is something you wear on your foot ) because of the liner. My Imola Red M Roadster had red under the hood but as everyone said, it didn't have the gloss coat.

Yeah but a trunk is something you find on an elephant

Anyway - yep boot and bonnet lid are both painted just not shiny.

Perhaps I should wax them ?????
