M3 is faster and Audi's electronics problems among other issues are too common for me to ever buy one
Here is a comparison between the e92 M3 and s5

S5 is a very nice car, a good friend of mine owns one. Lines are clean and the interior is very well laid out. Not in the same vehicle class as a 5 series though, you are looking at a 2+2 with the audi vs a full sized 4 door sedan with the F10 5 series. My E60 M5 blows the Audi away past 100 mph and it seats 4 comfortably with 3 sets of golf clubs in the trunk. LOL!
Have you tried the new 6 series? Those are super sexy cars and fast as hell. Otherwise, go with an M3 for performance. M3 completely rocks the S5. I still don't understand why Audi offers two different engine options on an S series car????

Having come from high powered Audi's after over a decade, to BMW... I would edge back to them in a heart beat. A car of that power, sure footedness of quattro - some say boring, but its undeniable, on any road, most surfaces and any weather you can do what you want without worrying about that back end kicking out.
As for scary electronics... well, speaking as someone who's done some pretty involving retrofits to the newer Audi/VW range, they are far far easier than BM's to code - I'll gladly argue that toss after trying to sert up the many pieces of BMW software, the comparison is an Atari versus a Mac - no brainer for me, I'd go S5 - or RS5 if you really want something special - eats M3's for breakfast

lol..His friend said NOT to get an Audi and stick to BMW.
OP- Do whatever you want, it's your life and your $. I personally would not get the F. I can work on Audi's a lot easier than any BMW in terms of electronics so I don't know what all these people are ranting about electronics. VAG are far easier to work on!
It's your choice, try one out. If you are looking for speed get a sportbike blows any car away. Mine is 0-100 mph in 5 seconds (maybe like 5.5 but really who has time to estimate the 1/2 second?)

I've driven both e92 M3 and audi S5. The M3 is more raw, as in the suspension is much firmer, exhaust note louder, shifters harsher. It also looks more dated too, since the e90 design has been out for a while. The S5 looks much better than the Bmw with cleaner lines and much more upscale interior, but it drives like an audi. It smoother, shifts in the auto are sluggish (the manual option is nice though), but the worst part, it has the typical audi quattro understeer since Audi loves to put the engine way up front. It's simply not as nice to drive. The M3 is the true canyon carver, but the S5 is the better looker.
