Spacers are not required to fit M166 rims to a 545i. People do that to push the rims (usually M5 spec ones) out closer to the fender for a wider stance and look.

For OEM M166, you can contact Garry @ Newport BMW. He gives 25% discount to all E60.net members. I'd stay away from aftermarket M5 rims due to quality and fitment (not hubcentric) issues. GL with your wheel search.

technically, you wouldnt need spacers at all with the OEM 166 wheels. some members just prefer to add spacers to the rears just for a more aggressive look and stance. with the 166 wheels with M5 offsets, you can add 12mm spacers in the rear if you desire, but it is not a necessity just for the wheels to work. another option would be getting the 166 wheels with M6 offsets, and the rears would have that aggressive output already, but the ones with M5 offsets are what is more readily available.

True. It's personal preference. Garry Romani is the lowest price source of BMW parts. GL .

buy oem if you can, mucho better. I have stock M5 wheels, no spacers, love them. 5-10mm rear might be ok but it's your call.
