Are the 172s pushed out more towards the rear fenders than the 166s? Are they the same offset? I saw a couple of 550s today with the 172s the rear wheels looked almost flushed.

Your thoughts please!

172's must have had spacers. The 166's actually are ET28 vs. ET32 of the 172's.

Could be the design of the 172 that makes it look more flushed.

The 172s' tarantula looking design has a huge visual impact IMHO. Go 172s!

you can check the offsets via realoem.com

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=36&fg=15
172's

F ET:18
R ET: 32

OP: I believe you just purchased M5 offset 166's

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=36&fg=15
so yours are (per realoem.com):

F ET: 12
R ET: 28

so the M166 wheels even with M5 offsets are sitting closer to the fenders...perhaps its the tires or just your eyes
