M1 to M2 steptronic question

M1 to M2 steptronic question
Hello:
2007 BMW 550i. Automatic Trani with 6 Speed Steptronic
Problem
I have the automatic in the DS Steptronic Mode. My car automatically shifts from M1 to M2 at 5 rpm. Well below redline and much sooner than I prefer to shift myself.
Is this a defect?
For the first 2 months after buying the car, it would switch to M1 by itself only at redline (7rpm)
Any thoughts on why this changed?
Thanks

In that mode the gears will only change if you redline them out..... because your supposed to que the gear changes via paddles or shifter. Thats a safety valve shift IMO. So, if the redline is lower now I would imagine that multiple factors are in play...maybe lack of shifting Not sure..but please clarify so folks here can help.
