Where can I find the silver overlays for my car? For the wheel, etc. I have slight peel like he had and it drives me nuts.

OK so the company is called Fablon and material is known as Velour.

Had a look on ebay (UK, sorry!) and this stuff is readily available, as are some other options such as mock leather!

Fablon Velour

A 22cm X 8cm piece is enough to cover one side of the trim.

To install:

1) Remove airbag (you should disconnect the battery first).
With a thin flat head screwdriver (type used by electricians or hobbyists), held with the head at 12,6 o'clock, insert it into the small hole at the bottom of the wheel around the back.

2) Keeping the screwdriver tilted slightly towards you, you should hit a metallic object. Now apply firm force, but do it gently, you should feel a springy resistance. Push past the resistance of the spring in a progressive manor and the right side of the airbag pop off.

3) With the right side off, keep pushing and the left side will pop off.

4) No need to remove any cables, just carefully place the airbag unit on top of the wheel.

5) Undo the 2X torx screws holding the trim in place and pull the whole unit out towards you

6) Remove the cables for the steering wheel buttons and undo the 4X torx screws holding the buttons to the offending trim piece.

7) Using a good hair dryer or heat gun on low, warm up your vinyl piece and roughly position it. Now slowly work your way down working the sheet into all the contours.

8) Trim away the excess material leaving around 5mm all round to fold over the edges.

9) I didn't remove the ///M badge piece as it seems to be glued on firmly. Instead, using a sharp blade, carefully follow the 2 groves either side of the M piece to cut perfect lines. A good tip is to warm the vinyl and run you fingernail into the grove so you have something to follow.

10) Fold over the edges neatly and reassemble.

Shouldn't take more than 30mins tops.

Soon, I'll have to do the same as you azstar.

How easy was it?

Thanks!

It can be a little tricky cutting the lower part neatly, I had to bin my first attempt as I missed the groove a little and cut it short. Nailed the second attempt, and the third try (other side) was very easy. This is the first time I have ever wraped anthing in vinyl so I would say its a pretty easy mod.

I have a little peeling around the starter button, guessing the previous owner had some long ass nails, so this is next on the hit list. The velour won't look good on that piece so I'll look into other options.

This cut in half along its length is more than enough to do the job. May be worth ordering 2 lots just in case you mess a bit up
