I'm searching through the forum about swapping my standard steering wheel to an msports. The more i read the more i'm getting confused.
Maybe a european -or even better UK- member can help me out on this one.
The car i have was produced on 21/12/06. It is pre-lci. It has the standard crappy 3 spoke wheel with the rectangular centre. I thought the msport version of this should also be with the rectangular shape and not with the circular as on the facelift models.
That's not the case though. The msport version for the pre lci models is the same -visually- as the lci ones.
So can anybody tell me if there is any subtle difference i must look for and -most importatly- if the airbag on mine can be used for the msport version ?
Help greatly appreciated
Thanks

The most crucial thing in msport steering wheels is the date 09/2005. The attachment points behind the wheel are different in pre- and post 09/2005 steering wheels and cars.

Try going to realoem.com. You can search for parts for your exact car. I would have given you part numbers, but I didn't know your exact model number. Let me know if you have issues finding the info.
I do remember some threads where people were talking about modifying a steering wheel to fit since the differences were subtle, but it did include using a dremel tool to do some grinding. I would make sure you get the correct one and make your life easier.

I could add to my own post that there are aftermarket (not OEM) steering wheels, where you can use a standard rectangular airbag.

You need a post 9/05 wheel and airbag. Like others have said, check realoem.com. You can usuAlly find them on eBay. The wheel will be around $500 and the airbag runs around $500 also. You may luck out and get a great eBay deal if you're patient. I'm selling a sport wheel that will fit ur car for $200 obo...if ur interested. I think the only difference between the sort and m-sport wheel is The msport wheel has the m badge and thumbs pads but both are significantly bigger!
It's a fairly easy diy as I just did it myself!
