Driver side airbag did deploy. Only the one that comes out of the steering wheel. The side curtains didn't. The first impact to the outer divider didn't make the airbag deploy but the after spinning out a little more, the 2nd impact to the center divider did the job.

well it's official. "TOTAL LOSS"! Haven't got the figures from insurance yet. Body shop told me earlier today that car will be a total loss. Now, how much do you guys think I will get from this? 71k miles on a 2006 530i, blue book was at about 21k. I'm sure they won't give full blue book value .

LOL even if they give you a little less, I'd be heading straight for an LCI 550 if I was you

Sorry to hear about the total loss but hey on to bigger and better things! From other member posts it looks like the E60 pays out very well.
Interesting to see what the payout would be... I have the same car with similar mileage.
