well I just got into a solo car accident. It just started to rain tonight in sunny SoCal and of course, the road is most slippery during the beginning phases of rain. I was driving steadily at i say about 55-60mph but I guess I hit an oil spot and lost control of my car. (really wouldn't be a problem but i was going into a steep, semi-sharp turn. for those of you who live in the hollywood area or drive through it, its that one curve on the 101 south near the sunset exit) Well anyways, had the car towed to my insurance company's tow yard since my body shop is closed and I just wanted to see what you guys think of the accident. Do you think it will be a total loss or do you think they will be able fix it up? Btw, I walked away from the accident with no scratches or bruises. (at least for the moment, I'll probably feel something in the morning) BMW's are pretty good at protecting the people in the car

wow - thank goodness you are ok and came out unscathed! TOo bad about the car but in my uneducated guess it doesn't look all that bad. From the pictures it only looks like damage in the front I guess. Good luck!

^^ +1000 First the good news is you're okay. Second, as for the car, it may be a total loss depending on the frame damage, year and mileage of the car. Since our cars have taken a BIG hit in value lately the insurance company may just decide it's cheaper to write it off than fix it.

What's disturbing to me is that your car looks an awful lot like my car, and I'd hate to see my car like that.

Yikes ... that hadda hurt!

Front end damage can be very expensive to repair correctly because of all the aluminum structural components. If it's determined there is sub-frame damage best to have a certified BMW collision center look it over and (possibly) repair it.

That said, I think your car is an '06 530 ... don't be surprised if your insurance company "totals" it ... mostly because of the high expense of a proper repair job.

Glad you're not hurt and no other vehicles / people were involved.

I'm about to head out to my body shop to find out the fate of my car. btw, How much did the insurance company give you? I'm sure mine would be less since mines an 06 530i with about 70k miles on it.
