I am very disappointed with the radio reception on my E60. My previous car which was a Ford Fairlane with a conventional aerial had a much better reception.

Oh boy, I had hoped this would be improved, as it sucks in my e46 M3 too. I guess the in-glass antennas just don't match up to aerials.

Mine crackles when the heated rear window is switched on. I kinda smile when this happens and think this car cost ?39,000 but if I tried to demonstrate it to my dealer it wouldn't do it.

I assume there is no tint on the rear window. If you have tinted the windows with a metallic based tint, that will cause reception problems. Otherwise, a number of folks have reported reception problems, particularly AM.

I had a lot of static on AM stations, however after sw update (v 15) everything is fine now, unless I'm driving under power lines.

Same problem but it was not just a software fix - at least for 2004s. THey replaced my AM antenna with a shielded antenna - there is a service bulletin. Works fine now. Might not be true of newer cars as I think they likely come with the shielded antenna now.

I had also complained of occasional poor FM reception (figuring it was just a software fix) and they replaced the whole damn radio. I have good reception on both AM and FM now and RDS works too.
