Hey fellow members!

Im having a squeeling/squeaking problem with my brakes....They squeel really loud when im just about to stop, 3-5 seconds before, when i lightly hit the brakes when descending at higher speeds i don't hear this noise. So i thought ok, it must be my brakes. i went and got them checked, (they were last changed in Nov 2007, and the brake company said there is still 50%+ left on the pads and brakes.) they said all it needed was a service and cleaning...WHICH DID NOT HELP! so $150 down the drain. what they did tell me thought, is that the previous owner put metallic brakes on instead of ceramics, but since it has squeeked since i had it (nov 07) it shouldnt be causing the sound.

Other causes ???

I put 545i rims on my 530i this summer, and that the only thing i can possibly think of thats changed since last summer (it could have been happening all winter, i wouldnt have been able to tell with my windows shut).

My brake fluid is also due to be changed, could this be causing the squeeling noise?

Is there any quick fixes? like something i could spray on my brakes to temp. reduce the noise?

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED! THANKS!

Brake noise is annoying, especially when you can't the cause of it. My suggestion would be get some new pads.

You may wanna try some brake pad glue. It does wonders. Had to do it on both cars.

Clean contact face (3) of brake caliper and apply a thin coating of antisqueak
compound ( or Permatex Disc Brake Quiet) .
Clean brake caliper mounting bracket at hammer head guides and
apply a thin coating of anti-squeak compound.
