I'm not sure if it's me and I'm in a bad mood, but I picked up my 2007 530XI last night from the dealer service dept, in for the DSC indicator recall and everything is screwed up. Lost seat memories, all preset radio stations, locking settings, climate control settings, and probably everything else that I haven't checked out yet. Maybe I'm spoiled because my Lexus service is unbelievable, but is this normal for BMW

Check you are using the same key, as these are key specific

But it gets worse - when upgrade software I lost the entire navigation addressbook carefully amassed over 2 years - amazingly there is apparently no way to dwnload and save these before over written

Can I join in?

I just got my car back from the dealership and all my settings are gone. I go through this every time I take my car into the dealership.

I want to join too.

On my last visit, I lost my bluetooth feature on my car. I made so much effort to get the dealer to enable this on my previous visit!!

Yup I lost my settings too last time I got a SW update.

Lexus unbelievable? I guess it depends on the dealer... unbelievable is right... screwed up my car more than they fixed it.

The same thing has happened to me on a number of occasions. I assume it happens when the software is upgraded. I tend to lose the seat memory settings, radio stations, navigation addresses and steering wheel button function settings.

Over 10 trips to dealer for four software upgrades, CID replacement, one recoding for blank iDrive screen, one CCC replaced, one blower motor and resistor pack replaced, one window drive motor replaced, some frame work and one recall. Only one time was anything blank and that was first time. I complained and asked that it never happen again. It has not. Only other odd thing was 100% duplicate NAV Addresses after one update and a SIB was out a week or so later saying that that particular CIP had that issue. So, the short of this is, it is poor service center processes. They even instruct the service center in their upgrade process to ensure they save and restore settings. get on your dealers, it can be corrected

Oh, you can bet that the next time I'm going to press BMW of San Diego REAL hard. They're going to have to work for that 5 rating.

Will they ever really get better if they ask you to aways give them a 5 rating? My dealer is going to be pissed because they will get some 3's and a 1 for making me search for my car in the lot for 15 minutes  I just checked the other functions and everything was erased
