Losing confidence in grip

How would staggered tyres help ?

They will force some understeer into the chassis by giving the rear tyres a larger tyre contact patch when compared to the front.

Not the answer if you ask me, and certainly not the answer for anyone with less than a 540i or tuned 535d, there simply is not the power to warrant this kind of offset on lesser powered machines.

Good rubber with correct pressures and an empathetic right foot its the key mate


This of course depends on whether your a man of function or a man of style...........delete as applicable


( I ruined the handling on my E46 by fitting staggered offset rims and tyres fwiw )

I tested a 525d with the 19" staggered wheels, and it defo tramlined in the left hand lane of the M1. It tried to sit (uncomfortably) in the grooves left by the Artic's, so it put me off...so I stayed in the middle and outside lanes!!!!

Has nothing to do with runflats, has to do with summer tire rubber compound with sport tires-RFs or not. You can play with the under/over steer by playing with tire pressures. To lessen understeer increase rear tire cold pressure by 4-5 pounds per square inch.
