Looks like clutch failure. ONLy 1600 miles.

Is there an inherent problem with the clutches?
My trusty Mercedes 190D went 243,000 miles with the same clutch (the imput bearing went, so I replaced the clutch components as well, but they were still not beyond spec). I have driven sticks for over 500,000 miles without any problems, I anticipated getting at least 150,000 mi without problems with the 530. Is that not possible?

I think my clutch is going to go soon. I hope it doesn't leave me stranded. Is there a way to check the clutch out? Is there a clutch life test they can do? The dealer told me there are no adjustments they can make. He said they are all hydraulic. I think i may have a hydraulic problem.
