The L7 radio itself on the LCI is somewhat "tinny" compared to the wonderful L7 radio in my 04 545. The LCI radio just does not have the rich audio quality of the original L7 radio in the 545.

I've had a pre-LCI E60 with L7. I have an LCI with individual audio on order. I am hoping that, for about ?500 more, the individual audio will be better than the pre-LCI L7. I'll let you know when it arrives...

I haven't fully tested the LCI L7 but I do think that BMW may have changed the amplifier. I'll do some more checking sometime soon but maybe some of you folks with a bit more time on your hands can take a look at something I noticed the other day...
On my LCI car, I removed the left side trunk wall (for another reason) and noticed a glowing light coming from the top of the L7 amp -- I can't remember if the car or the stereo was on at the time but in the few times I had that same panel removed on my 2004 car, I don't remember seeing any glowing light coming from the top of the unit.
I know that some amps use a filament (that can emit light) as a sort of resistor to help prevent circuit overloads, etc. -- I wonder if the guts of the amp are new and possibly contributing to the difference in sound that people are reporting?
Can anyone with a pre-LCI L7 car see if there is any light coming from the top of the L7 amp? Can anyone else with an LCI L7 car see under what conditions light will shine out of the top of the amp?
