MY E60 Had standard Hi-Fi and it sounded like crap.. I ripped out the entire sound system and had it replaced. I just picked up an E92 with Logic 7 and it sounds amazing. 100 times better than the standard hi-fi. But rememebr its not just the speakers the amp needs to be changed as well..

Even a simple swap with L7 speakers especially the tweeters does improve things.

I don't think the difference is like night and day if you simply swap the speakers. The difference is a lot between the Hi-Fi and the L7 system. The key here is the amp.

I did exacty just that this last Friday. It is a slight improvement, not night and day. I don't have the benefit of the L7 amp or additional mid range speakers in the center or rear doors. I listen to my music "flat", with tone controls at 0. With the L7 speakers installed, I have to set bass at -2 to bring out the mid-range.

I am pretty sure the Logic 7 system ended in 2007. For pre-lci cars the systems available were standard, hi-fi, and top hi-fi aka Logic 7. The system you have is very similar ( maybe the same? ) to the L7 but it no longer has the L7 name. The LCI cars are available with either the hi-fi, hi-fi professional dsp, or the individual audio system ( Durac as of 08 in the E60 ). Do you have the hi-fi professional dsp ( similar to L7 ) or the individual audio system ( Durac system )? To see how to tell the difference between the hi-fi professional dsp system and the Durac system: Durac post
The Durac system has better speakers, better crossovers in the doors, 90 watts per channel D class amp ( compared to 40x7 and 60x2 for the L7 amp ), and Audissey sound processing. It is much better then the L7 or hi-fi profession dsp system.
For me, I when I drive a car with the L7 system, the rear door speakers ruin the soundstage. I am very tall so maybe I have the seat too far back, but I prefer the L7 system with the rear doors disconnected.

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.
Maybe I'll be the exception here, but the Logic 7 in my wife's E90 doesn't sound that huge of a difference over the E60's standard sound. Possibly it's an Logic 7 E60 thing, but I would not go as far to say it's like night and day, or 100 times better over stock. Yes I would get it if I had the option, but I didn't. It's my opinion but I think Logic 7 sounds better because of the Amp and the controls you get over the sound through their EQ. I do agree the speakers may add some improvement, but will you honestly know the difference? I personally don't know. However before running out and getting the logic7 speakers you might try to find a nice High Def sounding speaker that will fit in the E60 - if that's possible. Might be cheaper in the long run. And yes I'd like to think of myself as an audiophile when it comes to speakers and quality components.
Just my .02 cents :-)
