My Ride: 2006 530Xi delivered on 1.4.06: Black Sapphire w/ Black interior, Steptronic, Sports package, Premium package, Premium Sound, NAV, Sirius, Comfort Access.
Likes:
- Logic 7 & MP3 support
- Sirius (regardless of sound quality - I like Howard)
- Power
- Handling in the snow (I have an Xi and its insane)
- Design
- Heated Seats and Heated Steering Wheel
- NAV
- Tons of other positives as well.
Dislikes:
- Voice Control (lotta room for improvement)
- 30 second start up for IDrive (Comfort Access makes this more painful)
- The speeding ticket I got 3 weeks after I bought it (75 in a 55. Not too excessive but it was my first ticket in 5 years)

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
Whats wrong with SMG in traffic? Can you please explain... I'm not sure... i'm kinda indiffernt... so I want to know your opinion...

When I'm going 5-10mph and then slowing down in 1st gear, SMG disengages the clutch abruptly sometimes. Its not that smooth and it disengages the clutch sooner before a complete stop (at a higher rpm) than if I were driving a manual.

My Ride: 535D Sport Auto
Especially like: -
Massive thrust
Fantastic brakes
HiFi Option
Sat Nav
Sport Pack
172's
Black interior
Light pop wood
Hourly chime
Don't like: -
Shut line above boot lid from side view
I drive boot up time
Orange leds on front h/lights (Prefer clear)
Diesel clatter at tickover
Boring door trim say compared to X5
Low speed ride
Indicator control (can't get it right after 2yrs 5mths)
Warm up time (its a diesel thing)
Otherwise a fantastic car!

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Since you referenced 525, I'll not get into the high performance things that really appeal to me, even after 35 years of them.
E 60 Dislikes:
1. Cramped driver's footwell for clutching. Shoe outer edge catches on (very wide) dead pedal, and forces me to concentrate on where my foot is rather than what I should be doing at the wheel. To me, this is a continual safety issue. If you go for automatic, or even SMG, you'll never notice.
2. Limited side and rear view.
3. Lack of straight-up radio system controls; excessive/expensive gadgetry.
4. Lack of any rubstrip protection on doors and bumpers.
5. Depreciation, which BMW doesn't help by declaring new model years 6 months before calendar change.
Most Appreciate:
1. General BMW quality and refinement
2. BMW handling and most ergonomics.
3. Most of the distinctive styling.
4. Powerful engine with manual transmission and suspension options as routine models, (vs limited edtions)
5. Brand surety and appreciation.
Cheers,
Ray Hull

My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
What did you expect - the trunk to slowly open up like a Lexus? I opened mine this morning and it was stuck as if it had alittle glue. So I just tapped it up and walla . . . . . I could complain about the not having auto trunk close, but that only put more weight to my car.

Acceleration
Handling
Power
Don't like
Worst IPOD connectivity of any car
Shi**y electronics - especially Idrive (but voice control is kinda cool)
Build quality (mainly in regard to the electronics which seem to screw everything else up)
Great car to DRIVE, so (like many people apparantly) I am prepared to tolerate the odd bong from the idrive (mine seems to panic about all sorts of things).
