The photos are a little too low-res to make too much of an assessment, but basically you just need to make certain that any two wires with exposed copper are separated a bit before applying the liquid insulation. It doesn't have to be pretty (I see you got that memo...), and I'd suggest "more is better" within reason.
And yeah, I wouldn't be tempted in the least to start trying to mess with wiring that looks to be fine, though I'd do my best to inspect it where it's subject to ANY mechanical stress / vibration (probably at the anchor points).
I've been taking this very slowly and have now dismantled the passenger side assembly, coated the bare wires with liquid electrical tape, attempted to pull the motor from the xenon compartment but observed the wiring in this area appeared to be undisturbed and fully insulated. I reconnected the assembly to the car and tested the unit and the lights came on but I still have the AHC warning light coming on. I will now carefully go over the driver's side. If you notice anything in the attached photos or have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks
Did the iDrive notification not inform you of which side?

No the iDrive isn't indicating a side; I just get the icon on the instrument cluster and the green flashing light when turning on the headlights. Interesting enough, I did the driver's side today (see photos below) and after testing that the lights worked, I reinstalled everything. Upon start-up I could actually see the passenger side lights move up/down suggesting the motor was operating. But the dash icon returned and the flashing green light remained; so I may still have a problem localized on the driver's side. See if you notice anything in the photos that I missed.
Thanks, Nick
A strange thing has occurred that has the adaptive headlights working again!! After repeated starts/drives during the day after reinstalling the headlights, I continued to get the AHC warning light popping up on the instrument cluster each time I started the car. I finally took a drive at night and needed to use the headlights. Again the warning light came on at startup, but the lights functioned fine in the straight-ahead position on my drive home. When I got home and pulled into the garage, I thought I saw the right headlight move/adjust as I approached the back wall.
I turned off the lights and went in the house.
Next day I start the car and I DON'T get the warning light on the instrument cluster! So I turn on the headlights in the garage and I DON'T have a flashing green light any more! Since then I have been without the warning and without the flashing green light. So I'm guessing all that liquid electrical tape must have helped in curing/preventing a short in the wiring after all. Let me know if anyone has any other conclusions as to what may have happened.
My guess is that a couple wires that were shorted together shifted a tiny bit, "unshorting them". The problem could well come back, but if I were you, I'd just pretend the problem never happened. ;-)
