We just has to wait and see if they are in fashion when the E60 comes to the facelift age.
From Sept production '07 I suppose
Personally I like the disco (some say Tokio by night-) lights more in a nightclub

Lots of pictures.
And yes, LED tail lamps will probably come with the facelift. The original dealer training manuals for E60 actually even refer to LED tail lamps, so they probably changed it at the last minute. But I wouldn't say BMW is "reserving" them for the facelift, since 99% of 5 Series owners couldn't possibly care less. I just hope there aren't any body panel changes that would affect the shape of the lights, so that current 5 Series owners could just retrofit them (as was the case on E39).

The E60 originally was designed with LED tails and they were removed at the last minute because of some sort of power problem. The last E46 had LED tails if you remember. BMW removed them from their vehicles for some reason. They sure did look HOT on the E46 however.

I see a lot of new E-series Mercedes-Benz cars with broken led brake lights.
The M-B's quality suck as do the Audi's.
Why should BMW go for such stupidity just for disco "cool" looks?
