Althought I enjoy my E39 M5 for 4 yrs now and enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately time has changed and the E39 is left behind in time
.? For the most part, I would consider your move a downgrade. The E60 benefits from 7 additional of R& D and it centainly shows. The M Audio in the E39 M5 is not even in the same world of the Logic-7.?
I agree that an M cars will always be an M car 30 yrs from now. And that would be the only reason to get the E39 M5 IMO. I hope that is the reason why you made the change.
cheers,
beewang

however, I have to agree with beewag, I loved my E39 M5 - 4 great years - but would consider this a downgrade in all aspects, with the acception of acceleration! Make sure you get the extended warranty, I had $9K worth of warranty work done at 39K miles prior to trading.....
Cheers,

My Ride: 2008 M5 -- Exterior: Silverstone, Interior: Black. Fully Loaded. That just about sums it up! :-)

Very nice ride! I guess if I were to "go backwards" on a purchase it would definitely be for an "M" -- That is one clean "M" you got there!
No need for you to depart from the E60 Forum, unless for some reason you now think us "non-M" owners are below you!
Keep in touch.

2001 is the MY with the most significant changes (new M steering wheel, angel eyes, widescreen NAV).

Needless to say, I don't consider this a downgrade. Like any other change, there are pros and cons to the decision-making process, and different people have different perceptions. I'm glad I owned an e60, so I could experience all the technology and other improvements BMW is implementing. But, I'm extremely happy with my choice.

Steve - may I suggest a UUC Short Shifter, I was very pleased with mine, in addition, give consideration to opening the brake ducts....two fairly easy and reasonable ($$) mods.....
