So tell me if I am being a $#!~.

The leather boot that sits at the base of the steering wheel, on the top portion has one of the clips busted and the thing does not sit properly.

I took it to the dealer and the comment on the work order is "I fixed the clips"

Fix=Glued the leather boot to the base of the wheel. It works but this is not what I expected or wanted.

Am I being too touchy about this? Basically it works but if I am ever outside of warranty and need to take that thing off I am now in the reglueing business....

My dealer loves me.......I think......OK, I know they dont. I do know every order they process on behalf of warranty reaps a profit so I only feel so bad about enforcing the warranty repair and that repair being done to my expectations.

Go back and tell them to do it right. What kind of a dealer fixes that sort or problem with glue?

mine were broke when I bought the car. I have looked into getting very tiny pop rivits and putting 1 on top in the middle and 1 on each side for a total of three, then paiting them a flat black. Wouldn't ever be noticable. Of course, its not very reversable.

A brand new steering wheel don't cost too much.

But you should try the warranty, it's not accepted that the steering wheels peels off!

Find another dealer who will honor your warranty properly. Usually, if you're nice, they're nice. Obviously, some are better than others. Glue is not acceptable.

ridiculous!!!!!! where were they doing the repairs, in someones back yard????? Idiots, they get paid well to do the work from bmw and they do this? In fact, I would call BMWNA and take it to another dealership. If they did it once, they'll do it again.

OT: or it gets replaced. Think twice before squeeking too much at work.
