This week I've received the proto-type of my LCI Tail-lights retrofit cables. Its being manufactured in a small factory in the UK so I won't be soldering things by hand any more (thank goodness). I've taken all the feedback I've received in the last two years and put it into the design of the V6.
The V6 has a custom aluminium enclosure that acts as a big heatsink and also avoids any localised heating issues. The enclosure also matches all the other modules in the back of the car. The cables still conintue to use OEM BMW plugs, contacts and connectors but now I no longer am restricted to the short BMW wires that I was previously using because the wiring harness is also custom length. The enclosure is designed to mount either on the lights themselves or below the lights - the latter option being the recommended.
The circuit design is completely solid state with no moving parts and relays. I'm now using the bigger metal cased power resistors too that help with the heat dissipation.
I will start a Group Buy shortly but just wanted to give you a brief preview of what you can expect.
Labelling and packing designs have not yet been worked out.
Please see some pictures that I've taken of the prototype. Please ignore all the raw looking arrangements, I've still to work out the finish and fitting arrangements.

I thought someone else might have fun too with the 3D models of the enclosure and the resistor plate.

Finally decided to get this made is because we are looking at moving house and we're having another baby soon, so I will have hardly any time on my hands to do this stuff.
