I had a question about the redline on the LCI 5ers. After doing some searching on here I found out in pre-LCI cars it used to move depending on the engine temp. they removed the feature for LCI cars. From what I have gathered the instrument panel still has all of the necessary items needed for it work it just isn't enabled or locked.
What i was wondering is if the M5 LCI models also has a locked gauge, and if anyone with an LCI model found a way to get this feature to work? (ie either through software update, dealer visit, hidden idrive menu item?, etc)

The search bar is your friend! But to answer your question you must go to the dealer to get the feature unlocked.

I am going to try passing my dealer and get this taken care of. Thanks again!

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
Actually the old rev meter didn't tell that much.
On my old E60 525iA's it only "limited" the revs about some 1000 rpm.
Revving a cold engine to near max is only for idiots anyway.
It's not only a question about the water temp, but also the
engine and gearbox oil temps.
I'm sure the new F10 will get a at least a water Temp meter.

I have the preLCI car but my wife's X5 has the LCI system... I like the white lines moving over as the engine heats up. I don't know where it senses this from ?engine oil vs water temperature - but it's nice to see the car warm up and know there is a threshold re revving unless you want engine damage. I don't have this on the X5 and I miss not being able to open er up without knowing for sure that all is well re engine temp!
