Pay a (hopefully) professional company to change the software settings in the Engine Control Unit.

Interesting - anyone know if this is done in US, and if so, any testimonials or pitfalls to be aware of? Standard 550i will have more than enough OOMPH I expect for quite a while... although improved fuel economy wouldn't hurt...

I have a question. I saw that the new automatic gearbox is equipped with a sport button for the engine management. I read that it also is foreseen for the 535d among some others. Why doesn't your car has this button ?
I'm currently driving a Sept 04 535d and want to buy a new one. But I'm very curious about that power button.

Did you miss out on Active Steering in your list of toys?

ABC
Read a lot about the active steering option - not sure if that would reinstate the 'connected' feel you get from the 3??

I have a 525dT on order with a June 1st delivery. I noticed that the residual heat button on the climate controls are gone. Have BMW taken away the function or do you have to use the idrive to turn it on?
No - the button has gone but you just turn the temp control up with the engine off and this powers the res heat function on

My car has the new standard auto box - the new auto box with sport mapping, different shift leaver and steering wheel paddles will be released in June

You may never know.

One thing's for sure, those who have experienced it appear, to a "man", to fully appreciate its benefits. It could be a matter of "justifying the decision" of course.

Brief update........800 on the clock and really starting to feel sweet now. New auto box is very very smooth and so far makes perfect selection choices taking full advantage of the available torque and only dropping gears when necessary, new motor is now starting to sound very hushed even at start up (quite noisy with no miles on it) with awesome power delivery. Still not gone above 3.5K RPM but even below this it has a phenominal tunr of speed; its ability to make objects disapear in the rear view mirror is amazing..........it gives you a real punch back into the seat when you push it - and i still haven't pushed it to kick down yet or go beyond 3.5k rpm!
