Sadly, this is true. Otherwise we would have no idioms. I know I'm contributing to some serious topic-drift, but if anyone is really a stickler for this kind of thing you should read Bill Bryson's "The Mother Tongue". The six people in the US who have read it so far (myself included) are linguistically better for it.

I would also recommend The Loom of Language to provide a kind of ,,how we got to where we are``.

Hey Jonathan, I know you were always an active member on RF and on BimmerFest but more recently, you're very active here -- did you just recently discover E60.net or did something else cause you to start posting here? Are you getting an E60 soon? (not that it matters) Just curious...
