However, I am yet to find an article that would clearly say what is exactly in iDrive.

Edit - sorry uglybear; I have just noticed you have referenced the same press release. I remain confused.

The reason you are confused is that the 7er does use Windows CE. Also, the 5er outside the U.S. WITHOUT CCC uses Windows CE.
All other cars incl. all U.S. 5ers and 5ers with CCC (and 6ers and X5 and 3ers) use Vxworks.

I assume you only see English and German but not Dutch. If you are from the Netherlands I guess these three languages should do the job. If your car is not displaying the Dutch language, go to a dealer and have the software updated and ask for Dutch.

Who knows what languages are used in the idrive.
Although I'm from Holland, having no troubles with english/german, I'm curious.
Besides: in 2007 when a cheap navi like tomtom has 25 languages to choose from (even male/female)
i think that bmw has only a small amount of different languages.

I had it changed to Dutch in my car when I had a Progma update. The funny thing is that it is linked to the car key!. When my wife is driving the car she has the menu and voice in English. I still have to make the change for her..

It is available in Dutch (both the I-drive screens and the navigation voice).

You mean it is available in Dutch but cars sold in the Netherlands don't have it set to Dutch when they are delivered?
