I forgot to mention before that it needs new windshield too.

Is this still too simple/cheap and a myth? If this is simple and not costly for what it gives then what is it?

I get your point. But at issue is your assertion that it is too expensive for everyone (without really telling anyone the costs, the use of used parts, etc) but what you mean is the cost is too high for you for the value to you. These things can mean something completly different to someone else.

Just semantics? Perhaps saying it is an "Expensive Upgrade" and not "Too Expensive" would be the solution here?

I have it an it's almost useless, the roads have to be PERFECT and you have to drive in an almost absolute straight line for it to work properly. If not you'll get your steering wheel vibrating all the time, and all it does is shock me and make me jerk the wheel. A waste of a button/feature imo.

I remember a time were I dosed off from the far right lane of the freeway late night and pulled my steering wheel all the way to the left smacking the center divider. lol... I was surprised my Yukon had no outside body damage, except for the the front rim being destroyed and my rear drivers side wheel flying down the freeway also my rear axle braking and catching on fire which i blew out. Besides the Highway Patrol coming 30mins later, I only blew a 0.3 and dropped a couple guys friends names who work for the CHP. (24" rims saved the car!)

So as a summary, seems to involve:

1. Control Unit (can be got for about 40.00)
2. Camera (can be got for about 40.00)
3. Steering Wheel (why spend anything on this if you're not M5 or sport upgrading - close to 300.00)
4. Windshield (at least 500.00 + tax, or an insurance deductible - make sure you tell your insurance company the features you have before you purchase).

So unless you're wanting to throw out heated steering wheel and perhaps consider a paddle-shifter upgrade (surprised there isn't an option for all of the above), and you have glass coverage and your pissed ex-girlfriend broke your windshield - or a 'tree branch' fell on it; you're likely not going to want to invest close to a CIC retrofit (what they cost back in 2010 anyways) for a system that vibrates your controller (steering wheel) not just when you're going over the double solid yellow or dotted white lines; but all the time (when the roads aren't perfect).

A ps2 dual-shock controller worked perfectly and cost far less!

I'd assume there'd be vibrating seats, loud dings, visual indicators (what's the winshield for if not for the HUD?). I was looking at this retrofit whilst looking for a "notify you that someone is passing you" retrofit to do....

Am I missing any parts (aside from the cabling?)

I believe the windshield is because it has a different painted section at the top with openings in it for the camera to look out.
